Thirty years after the Spice Girls burst onto the global music scene and transformed popular culture, Melanie C will take to the stage at Aberdeen Music Hall to reflect on the remarkable journey behind one of the biggest pop phenomena in history.
The singer-songwriter, best known around the world as Sporty Spice, will share stories from the extraordinary rise of the Spice Girls, life at the centre of global fame and the lessons learned from a career that has continued to evolve long after the group's record-breaking success.
Melanie C joins an expanding Ultimate Masterclass Festival line-up — delivered by Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce and Boskalis Subsea Services — which has already welcomed four-time Olympic champion Sir Mo Farah and bestselling psychologist and author Dr Julie Smith during this year's festival.
Since the Spice Girls burst onto the international stage in the mid-1990s, the group has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, becoming the biggest-selling girl group of all time. As Sporty Spice, Melanie C became known for her powerful vocals, athletic image and energetic performances, helping define a cultural movement that inspired millions across the world.
Alongside her success with the Spice Girls, Melanie C has enjoyed an acclaimed solo career spanning more than two decades, releasing multiple chart-topping albums and singles, touring internationally and establishing herself as one of Britain's most respected female recording artists.
During the live interview, Melanie C will reflect on the highs and pressures of unprecedented global fame, the enduring legacy of the Spice Girls and the realities of sustaining a career in the music industry for more than 30 years. She will also discuss the importance of resilience, overcoming personal challenges, mental health and continually reinventing herself throughout an extraordinary career.

The Ultimate Masterclass Festival has become a flagship event for Aberdeen, attracting sell-out audiences and high-profile speakers from across sport, business, media and culture. Previous editions have welcomed Sir Chris Hoy, Louis Theroux, Davina McCall, James Corden, Grace Beverley and Jamie Genevieve, with more than 6,000 people attending the 2025 series alone.
